Letter to my mentor group

Dear mentor group,

Here is what we should do next Tuesday:

Based on the Seth Godin text “The work not done yet” we should discuss comments or behaviours that may have had either a positive or a negative impact on trust within our community. According to Godin fear is the real reason work, in this case changing the negative things in our community,  isn’t getting done.

To guide the conversation we can use questions such as:

  • How do we get rid out our fear in the best way?
  • What can we do to help others to get rid of their fear?
  • How will getting fear out of the way help us get our work done?

To make this conversation comfortable for everyone we must follow the protocols:

  • Only one person should speak at the time.
  • Everyone, no matter if they agree or disagree with the opinions being stated should listen with respect.
  • It is a safe space, nothing discussed in the classroom should leave the classroom.
  • We should all try to get fear out of the way in order to be able to open up about the issues discussed.

This discussion would help turn our school into a safer, more peaceful environment where everyone can feel comfortable.
