Model United Nations OFS

This year, I was able to partake in my fourth MUN conference at the Overseas Family School. After participating in numerous conferences and representing smaller countries or organizations in order to develop my skills, I was finally able to be the delegation of the United States in the Security Council. The United States is one of the P5 countries, meaning we were able to have moderated discussions with the other members of the P5 nations. This allowed for a greater and more fruitful debate that allowed us to amend the resolution under debate and ensure we were meeting the needs of our countries. This was an amazing experience as I had never been in the Security Council before which has a different procedure in comparison to other committees that I had previously been in, such as the Economic and Social Committee and the Human Rights Committee. Additionally, for this conference, I was a double delegation, so I was representing the United States with one of my peers. This experience allowed me to grow in not only Model United Nations but also as a collaborator, as we had to ensure that we were always on the same page and working effectively together in order to receive the outcome that was desirable for our countries stance on the issues we were discussing.
