A list of numbers. Example: A sequence of numbers; 1, 2, 4, 8, 16…

What is a series?

The sum of the terms of a sequence. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 = 31

How can we distinguish between and analyse different types of sequences and series?

For sequences we can analyse the numbers for patterns. An example of a pattern that we might observe is the multiplication of the previous number in the sequence to find the next number in the sequence. This is a geometric sequence.
