Drama – Lighting

I think the session on lighting really gave me a lot to think about, especially how its so essential to use lighting properly in my performances. I feel like they can have a huge effect on the tension and atmosphere of the play, and its crucial to use them with caution, as overdoing them can make some scenes lose authenticity. They can be distracting but if used well, they add a layer of depth too.

I was really interested in how combining different lights can create various different scenes, and how so much can be said with the use of a couple of lights. The fact you can make a scene scary, a scene nostalgic in a sense, make a scene happy or a scene indicating boldness through a couple of lighting combinations enthralls me, and I can’t wait to experiment with the lighting.
