For the session we were in charge of running, me and Kelly decided to do painting with marbles. This is a arts and crafts activity where you dip marbles into various colours of paint, and then drop them onto a sheet of paper inside a box, and then roll them around. We chose this activity because we thought it would be unique and interesting. We were not that organised and took a long time setting up, because Kelly could not come and I was late because I had to collect a pass for a music rehearsal. When we set up the marble activity, the majority of the clients looked engaged and enjoyed shaking the marbles in the box. My client really enjoyed playing with the marbles, and wanted to do this for the whole session. However, a lot of the clients lost interest in the game after a while, and started doing other things. I think the challenge with choosing a new activity like this is that while some clients may enjoy getting their hands dirty and playing with marbles, there will always be some who will not understand what to do, or just lose interest midway and get distracted. In the future, we should choose a couple of activities which the clients are familiar with, so they know what to do, and if they get bored, they can just move onto the next one.
