PSE reflection

Key Takeaways:

How will you apply your knowledge of identity, personality types, emotional intelligence, and self-talk to your journey through the IB?

The knowledge we have been able to accumulate during PSE will be useful moving forward in many aspects of my life. For me personally, I think that I will use the decatastropising exercise most often. Since we did the exercise I can notice more often when I am being unnecessarily negative or harsh on myself. I think this ties into UWC’s idea of growth mindset, as it allows me move forward and work harder rather than dwelling on the past too much. Furthermore, the emotional intelligence exercises brought my attention to the fact that though I am very aware of my own emotions and struggles I often have trouble voicing them. This is something I should work harder on, especially since the article we read said that EQ can be developed, but it gets harder to develop when you get older. I hope to keep developing my emotional skills and qualities as we continue with PSE.

  1. I am glad to hear that you are already seeing the benefits of some of the strategies we have discussed. They may not work all the time, but are useful to have in challenging times. With regards to emotional intelligence, I think this is something we all need to work on, and perhaps we demonstrate more or less emotional intelligence at different times in our lives!
