What aspects of CAS are you looking forward to? How might you plan your year of CAS in order to maintain balance?
I’m really looking forward to CAS in general. Throughout the years in UWC, we’ve always had a small push and it’s been only good experiences. This year, we have a bigger push for doing something creative, active and related to service. Normally I would only stick to the activities I like to do and do service with my friends, but this year I’m excited to be trying something new. Especially taking part in the Samba band. I’ve found that when I was choosing my activities (and service) I was really excited about all of them and really interested to either continue doing what I love or trying something new that I have a vague idea about and hope to turn into a passion!
It was an easy choice for me to continue doing boxing which I absolutely love, and also include a weekly Bodypump session as my active part of CAS. For creativity, I was hoping to get into the marimba activity, but I was still determined to play any music in a sort of group because I’ve been wanting to have that experience for a really long time, and as I’m getting closer to the end of school, I’d really like to take the opportunities that the school is offering us. For service, I’m going to be taking part in a new college service called SustainaBrew where we look at the process of brewing and fermentation, and hopefully aim to provide the school cafe with (non-alcoholic) drinks that we make, as well as looking at reducing wastage which relates to the 12th SDG goal: responsible consumption and production.
I’m honestly really looking forward to doing these activities and hopefully finding new passions along the way! #LO3
