Moving to the fourth season of service, we have unfortunately been unable to visit our Bedok Peace Haven Service Partners due to the current Coronavirus situation. As the elderly are among the most vulnerable for the disease, extra precautions are being taken to ensure that all activities are halted, and visiting is highly regulated. After attending the service meeting that was held to plan courses of action for all service operations during the current situation, we were able to brainstorm the possible goals that we aimed to work towards over the course of this period. The ideas that we came up with included creating banners that could be put up around the neighbourhood’s centre that would help to inform both elderly and youth members of the community of the services offered by the new centre. To ensure that this would be a viable plan of action, we decided to email our service partners, and received a reply saying that they would like to be able to promote the opening of the new centre to members of the community, and agreed that this would be an appropriate means of doing this. From there, we listed down aspects that we would like to incorporate into our poster such as the location, features, targeted members of the community, and opening date for the new centre.

However after school closed for break and lockdown was extended, we decided to work on our digital service portfolio to ensure that grade 9,10, and 11 students looking to take part in the service would be able to gain insight into the work that our service does to contribute to the elderly community within Singapore. By linking the digital portfolio to our service description on the activities sign-up, this will help to raise awareness amongst students and teachers with regards to what our service does and aims to achieve over the course of this year. The link to the digital service portfolio is here, and includes a breakdown of what we have achieved over the course of the year, as well as the students that have been involved in contributing towards the service.
