My name is Maya and last year I completed the IGCSE CIM and AddMath courses. I would classify Mathematics as a hyperobject, full of concepts and ideas that reside outside of our imaginative realm. Maths is complicated, I don’t always understand it but that’s why I love it. Maths allows me to sit back and watch abstractness glide through between the numbers, letters and symbols in an equation. Overall, I’m anxiously excited for HL Maths.

In relation to the continuum, I believe I fall right at the centre or maybe a bit towards the left, depending on the topic. Forming connections between various topics has been for me the best strategy when I get stuck. My biggest strength in mathematics is imagination because it allows me to figure out alternative pathways to solving a question. It brings reality out of the scribbles of numbers and gives maths a shape that I can comprehend. I would like to focus on endurance for the first few weeks of Grade 11 because I do tend to get discouraged and lose interest after repeated failed attempts. This is definitely something I would like towards fixing.

This is very out of topic, but Biochemistry (and Molecular Biology) is my passion. I believe that doing well in Mathematics (and understanding it!) gives me a wide set of indispensable skills that I can put to use in understanding complex other subjects.
