Dystopia

“Describe what a “dystopian world” means.

A dystopian world is an imaginary society where it is undesirable and and unpleasant to live in. Dystopia is the opposite of Utopia where it’s highly appreciated and very pleasant to live in. A dystopian world was first represented in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.” Another example would be “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. She writes a dystopian world where the society, Panem faces discrimination and harsh separations between the different standards of living. 5 characteristics of a dystopian world might include harsh government control, environmental destruction, survival, loss of identity (individualism), and technological controls. We could say we are living in a dystopian world as not everything is rainbows and unicorns. There are those who live well and there are those who can’t afford basic necessities in the society.
