RDA: First few sessions

I have started my work with Riding For the Disabled two weeks ago. The service aims at aiding the RDA organisation with using horse riding as a therapeutic method of strengthening and allowing disabled persons to get some exercise and communicate with volunteers.

When we arrive we first meet with our partner and help them with finding a suitable and safe helmet. Afterwards, we lead stretching exercises and try to establish some communication with our partner. As my partner is primarily non-verbal, it is sometimes difficult to accomplish this step and takes longer than some of the other groups.

Next, we aid our partner with mounting the horse and lead them while conducting activities to engage them mentally and physically. When the riding session is done, we take notes on what the riding partner did well and what could be improved for the next session. I believe that this fits LO3 as it shows our attention to planning and thinking about how we can improve on the previous weeks session.
