Arts Club!

S1: For the art club, we were hoping to do a large collaborative group project of some sort – we had a cardboard dragon sculpture in mind as our school mascot is a dragon, and it would be fun to do. However, when we were brainstorming during the first meeting, we realised that people had very different interests. Some wanted to do their own thing (which was fine, it is an arts club after all) and some wanted to do a group project, though not our idea. Our planning did not work out as we planned to as after telling them our ideas and everyone discussing ideas during the session, it went in a totally different direction. Of course this change in plan meant we had to change our plans a bit, and as leaders of the arts club we gave advice to people, we gave some of those who weren’t experience some help in watercolor, drawing/sketching, and provided relevant materials to do art. The group project they chose to do was a cardboard city, where they would create buildings and paint them. I think a main challenge (and still is) now is to keep everyone on track and try to push them to meet deadlines. Although it is a more relax and chill club, we want people to be able to produce art in the short time we have. We also had problems with slackers, for example, a high school girl who was playing on her phone right in front of us. This meant we had to be a bit stricter on people coming to this club and making art as people did get rejected from the club.
