LO5 – Collaboration: Working together to achieve an outcome

I have been involved in BIA since 10th grade, where I took over chairing duties. I found myself in a relatively new position of leadership; requiring far more organization and effort than I had previously believed. We have not planned any projects thus far, although we are planning on getting to them later this year. I believe I demonstrated a sound ability to work collaboratively in order to achieve group aims through my leadership position. Something I am beginning to realize, which I perhaps did not actively consider last year, is that leadership roles do not require you to work alone. An effective leader collaborates and communicates with their group and other individuals. This has helped me very much, as puts far less stress on me to get all the group’s work done by myself, and instead, allows for the effective, collaborative completion of a task.
