Sailing reflection for Season 2 2018-19

LO2_Challenge

During season 2, we were very lucky to have our second coach onboard with us, Javin, who is an olympic level sailor for the Singapore sailing team. We were in preparation and training mode for our upcoming regattas after the CNY break, and so we were being pushed quite hard during the training sessions. During the days with heavy wind forecasts, I often found myself not being able to feel my legs and lower chest after intense continuous hiking to keep the boat level due to the strength of the wind. I’ve also been faced with quite dangerous situations, often being catapulted off my boat and onto the sail as the boat topples over due to the unpredictable gusts we experience on the Singaporean coast, a key characteristic to sailing in this region. However, this intense training has had many benefits, as I now find myself more resistant and able to sail in tough conditions and I more aware now to make changes to my boat in order to make my sailing a little more easier.
