2 targets for my English Mock

ELP
  1. Using a larger variety of words. To do this, I will need to memorise the list and also learn how to use each word in sentences.
  2. Learn to write a strong conclusion. To do this, I will need to practice writing more essays under a time limit to make sure I have time to write a strong conclusion. I will also need to include a conclusion section in my plans for my essay so while I am writing the essay I can clearly see how it would build into my conclusion.

After the Mock Feedback:

  • Use the correct terminology for the text type (for a play: stage directions, audience, satire, comedy, a farce, etc.)
  • Read it carefully to understand the characters and the set-up
  • Explore the playwright’s use of pathetic fallacy to create tension. Explore the costume
  • Link my ideas to the rest of the paragraph
  • Explain in detail reasoning to statements made

Reflection on first Mock IO experience

ELP
I did my mock oral with Denise, who did one similar text to me and had a similar global issue to me. I think it was a good experience to have as I got to practice how long my script would take me to complete. I learnt that answering questions at the end were tougher than I expected because it’s difficult to come up with a good answer on the spot. I found it quite beneficial to hear someone else’s speech who had similar content to mine as it reminded me of what I left out in mine. Now I need to work on the feedback Ms Kiersey and Denise gave me and complete my 10 bullet point list for Thursday’s lesson.

Reflection for the whole PSE

IB, PSE

PSE this year has been quite a journey, from learning about study habits and tips to learning about sexual assault and the world outside of UWC. I think many things that PSE has taught us has been really good, especially when we get to read scenarios about different things. It makes us much more aware of different types of situations people face in life and how we would actually tackle it if we found ourselves in that specific situation. I like the exercises we did about our identity because it was different to what we always did in school about identity. I liked class discussions we had too as it allows us to look at things from different perspectives that I might not have thought about myself.

PSE Reflection for Diversity and Inclusion

IB, PSE

This unit has helped me to learn about what a diverse community UWC really is. We all have some shared values through learning in this school for some time, however due to so many of us coming from different households and different racial backgrounds we have different values and beliefs when it comes to certain things. It also made me realise that although we bring our values and beliefs with us to school and some of our beliefs might clash with others, we still manage to get along very well and include all sorts of people in our friend groups or conversations.

Tolerance inclusion and respect Unit Reflection

Moving from a Bystander to an Advocate

Before going over the slides/poster for this, I didn’t exactly know what it meant to properly be a bystander. I always assumed that the best thing to do is to intervene and tell perpetrator to go away, but I didn’t realise that it could inflict danger on oneself. These rules/steps are a very easy way to visualise and understand every possible way that we could help in to prevent issues from becoming worse.
