What were the three most important questions I answered today;
I wondered what the mission/purpose of the group was and throughout the entire session, I learnt that Boomerang bags is a global movement, connecting and empowering local communities to tackle plastic pollution at its source. I also wondered what we would be doing and how we would raise awareness in the school and throughout the first session I learnt that we would be giving the bags to the school shop for free and asking them to return it. I also learnt that the point of the service was to create a community to discuss problems on plastic and build and maintain new relationships.
My experience with ‘teamwork’ and ‘collaboration’ has prepared me for this group. I say this because this service is a lot about creating a community where people enjoy and want to help the cause. The service requires a lot of teamwork especially when it comes to producing the bags and sending the bags to the school shop. In order for the service to be successful, the team would have to be very efficient and be able to collaborate well.
When assigning roles, it might be useful for the chairs to know that I have no experience sowing or using a sewing machine. I am ready to contribute to the team and work effectively. I am willing to take risks to a certain degree and am willing to work with people I haven’t necessarily worked with before.
Boomerang bags is great initiative, plastic consumption is particularly relevant in Singapore. Your planning sessions have been productive as you consider logistics and assign roles. Good luck in making a difference to the plastic consumption in our community.
