If I could further this research, I would like to examine more works of each poet and perhaps consider different theoretical perspectives such as the Freudian and Marxist lens to help bring a wider variety of perspectives into my work. This may have lead to a different outcome in which my claims and thoughts may have shifted to one that fit the lens that I had researched on. My current methodology was one which consisted of the deep reading of poems using reader-response theory with an awareness of context, while also reading scholarly writing about the two poets to help verify and augment my own claims. This was an appropriate strategy because it allows me to construct personal knowledge, yet at the same time, refer to and be supported by shared knowledge. I know that my response to my research question is a product of shared knowledge, yet I wonder whether there will ever be certainty or objectivity in literary knowledge.
