My idea of research came from the thought that although I am half Korean, I do not know much about my country. Therefore, I wanted to find out more about my country and the problems that exist within it. Korea is known for its high scoring students but it’s also known for its high suicide rates, which lead me to wonder of the correlation between the two subjects. Also, I would like to find out about the other factors surrounding student life that may result in suicide in Korea. My supervisor and I discussed some case studies for my research and one study that we decided to use is Amanda Ripley’s “The Smartest Kids in the World.” Previous to the meeting, I did not know that interviews are not to be used in Psychology EE. Therefore, this meeting helped cleared my doubts about my Psychology EE and gave me support through suggesting studies I can use in my EE.
