The University of Texas at Tyler’s Biggest Mistake

Coming from a college prepared household is an advantage. An advantage is always power, it makes one more dominant over the rest.  We can inherit the advantage when your parents go to college; you are the product of them going to college. Parents going to college already puts you higher up as they exert their practice on to you. Your life could be different if your parents don’t go to college because and this is said by our school’s university advisor because she had experienced this herself. Her father’s scholarship changed her father’s life and her own and this is what inspired her to be a university counseller. One of the most important things she reminded us when we start to do our college selections and applications; we should go to college for ourselves and not our parents.

So when 61 students were declined the scholarships by the University of Texas at Tyler, she felt like she had to do something about it. She knew what this scholarship meant for the Nepalese students; from life in Nepal to a university to the US meant everything to them. The scholarship meant everything to them, the university declining the scholarship meant that some students lost hope but some still pursued on with the help of university advisors to get into other colleges. It is important to be coachable and to trust your coach because this is their job to help you and they know what it the best university for you.
