My UWCSEA Learning Journey

Ella Rokic

Writers Fortnight: Underwater Photographer

Learning about how this guy is trying to say the ocean was very inspiring. He talked about how the ocean wasn’t scary and how all the animals in are beautiful. He showed us through close-up photos of sharks, whales and even crocodiles. He says he’s never afraid when he’s with these animals. He told us from a young age he was taught to respect the environment in the animals living in it which is a thing he hopes to share with the rest of the world. He writes articles for diving magazines and other platforms to talk about his expeditions and encounters. Through these, he tries to give awareness to the slowly dying oceans and ways to help. He talked about the food chain and how when one thing is affected it effects everything else and the balance isn’t there any more.

He told us important things about writing and how you can influence someone’s opinion. He said that sometimes he prefers writing to taking photos because you can say more and express more. He says when he takes a photo he has a story all in his head, and that later he writes the story out any never forgets. He told us the importance of writing and how it can save the environment.
