The Neural Signature of Procrastination

A team of researchers at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, conducted a research into the neural signature of procrastination. They started brain scans on 264 adults to explore the neural correlates of the ability to initiate and sustain an action. They found a relation between the grey matter volume of the amygdala. This part of the brain is the ‘fight or flight’ or fear motivation behaviour.

The article goes on about how the studies say that the amygdala is the part of the brain that is the main part of procrastination.  However, there are many other parts to the brain that control your ability to do something. I do not want to go into detail but the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex  (the part of the brain that has the main factor in self-control) is one of the main contributors toward procrastination. Procrastination is also due to emotion and where you are. You could be sitting down, resting or watching some television. It would be much harder to get up and go do something compared to just come back from a social event or a productive activity.

What I want to know is if there are any other factors towards procrastination?
