China’s most important energy source?

China, one of the most innovative and growing nations in the world, has produced lots of everyday materials and objects around us, as we all know. 70% of China’s energy was produced by coal in 2011, yet I believe this will slowly decrease because of the Three Gorges Dam. This dam produced more than 1/3 of China’s household energy, which is a large amount. The Three Gorges Dam is worth it because the advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantages.

The dam creates more energy in a year than 50 million tones of coal. That is a huge amount. Think about the benefits to the environment, the hydroelectric power is beneficial as it emits minimal CO2. The dam most importantly reduces the risk of floods, which was one of the reasons why it was built. The dam creates opportunities for people to clean up the river of the cities pollutants. This overall increase china’s economy and brings a social advantage to the dam. The three gorges dam was also built to help with the transportation of goods across China. This is extremely useful for business and civilians alike, and another reason why the dam was built.

Overall, the 3 Gorges is an extremely important, renewable energy source and should not be a risk to the economy, environment and the social side of China.
