EE Day: 9th May – Reflection

Date: 9th May 2019

  • One thing I’ve learned:
    • One thing I’ve learned from this EE Day is that it is unrealistic to expect to write all the words you need when you haven’t set the foundation of your work. I came into EE day without a real idea of what I wanted to write and realised I was going to need to sort through my core texts to understand what I wanted to include in my essay. Since the event my essay is based around is multi-faceted and has many different angles, it was important that I knew which aspects I wanted to focus on in the essay.
  • What I’m proud of:
    • I was able to put together a structure for my essay and collate information and sources that pertain to my topic and apply directly to what I’m writing. My core texts played a large role in helping me to find an idea of what I wanted my body paragraphs to be about and how the structure of the essay would flow.
    • I found several key pieces of information that provided insight into elements of my essay that I wanted to focus on but had not researched previously. It has allowed me to open up avenues of focus in my essays and make connections that I had been unable to make previously.
  • What I’ll be doing next:
    • I’ll begin working to analyse and organise the information I’ve gathered to focus on language aspects: as of now, I have an idea of the thematic focus of the paragraphs, but I need to analyse my texts so that I have specific language to unpack and focus on throughout the essay; I want to avoid making general statements/claims and make sure my writing is meticulous.
