9 GPERS FEI – Group Sharing Task

Studying GPERS allows you to consider issues that you have never really thought about before:

This unit was a very enjoyable and interesting one as I was able to learn about the different factors that can influence ones beliefs, whether it’s based on faith, ethics or ideology, people can hold very controversial perspectives on an issue. Studying GPERS allowed me to consider issues that I have never really thought about such as the issue I was looking in to as well as the issues that others were looking at. For example, the extradition killing in the Philippines was one debatable topic that I found very diverting. The cops had dragged a girl and killed her (age 17), the president who held more of a authoritarian view urged people to report and kill drug users. The former president of the U.S, Obama, condoned yet Donald Trump strongly supported it. It’s very interesting to see the different view points and see how that creates an impact on my personal perspective. Although there are many topics being discussed on the news everyday, I never realised why an individual/group may hold a specific opinion and the influence it would create to the surrounding. This unit has helped to expand my knowledge on what’s really going in our world today and make me become more open-minded on the differing perspectives being proposed.
