LEAP Reflection 2

Above is a brainstorm compiled by three students (including me) and our Environmental Stewardship teacher. It materialised as a fruitful session given the small group of us, and we were able to constructively criticise the past used website called ‘Sense and Sustainability’ and how we would tailor it to our rationale

and mission as Environmental Leaders. Our session also involved discussing one of the Environmental case studies being used for the social justice event, ‘Write for Rights’. Whilst we had contested opinions regarding the depth that the case study illumined, and how an overly detailed case study may not appeal to students, we realised that maintaining a certain degree of depth to provide context of environmental issues in SEA, notably Indonesia would be appropriate. Although we have a plan for the Foundation video we want to create for advocacy for how UWC’s campus is created through sustainability, the execution has proven to be difficult with the time constraints, and various opinions emerged. Nonetheless, we have made substantial progress by delving deeper into the spots in UWC we want to shed light on and embarked on a Foundation tour around her campus so as to gain a better understanding of how the UWC campus is environmentally sustainable and efficient.
