The results obtained from the experiment were pretty conclusive. One of the things I would like to amend would be to use an operating system that is dedicated to maximizing database performance, such as RedHat Linux. This would ensure that the results are not affected by OS tasks. I would also like to extend the scope of my investigation to include the effect of other factors, such as memory usage and concurrent connection pooling, as they may provide a better representation of real-world usage. However, this is already entering into expert territory. Furthermore, there are disagreements in the expert community about these factors. I wasn’t able to find any studies published that specifically explored these factors and gave definitive conclusions. With my current knowledge, I predict that optimizing these internal parameters may show slight performance improvements as compared to my results, but not enough to be considered significant. It would also be hard to study these factors in great detail with the unspecialized equipment in my school and the timeframe of the EE. Therefore, this is something that I might want to investigate further in university.
