PSE Post unit reflection- Back to The Future

This year, I think I’m most proud of being bale to adjust to IB. Obviously coming from IGCSE to IB is a really big jump and was quite hard at times, regardless of whether it was challenges related to IB subjects, CAS, time management, personal issues or really just anything else, I’m quite proud that I made it so far so quickly (in a sense) and that I’m not fully drowning (At least not yet :). I think most of the challenges were expected as I briefly mentioned above, knowing that I was coming in with a package that also required a lot of work and extra revision time outside of classes. Initially, I found the idea of CAS quite challenging, however after I read through the requirements and laid out a plan to follow for the future, I was a lot less stressed because I had an idea of what I was doing and how I would do it as well.

I think at the moment, I would like to put in more effort into all of my subjects, but if I were to pick 3 that I really wanted to focus on, it would be my HL’s : biology, chemistry and english literature. I’m not struggling too bad in these subjects, but most universities want at the very least a 6,6,7 in your HL’s and I need to put in a bit more work to do that. I need to make sure that I have a set out and well laid out plan, so that I can manage my time well and make sure that I am organised and finishing everything that needs to be finished on time. I think I’m very proud of my performance in the subjects, and I’m satisfied with my first report. Obviously, like I mentioned above, there is a lot of room for improvement, but I think it was a good start to the beginning of IB and it can (again hopefully) continue going upwards from here on out. I’m also quite proud of the activities that I did at the beginning, taking on a leadership role as co chair of my local service as well being more involved in the other activities.

The main advice I would give myself is to not get stressed and start procrastinating everything, but to manage my time well and make sure I am well prepared for everything that IB may throw at me. i also think something that I just tested out this term was doing some pre-reading before classes which is very helpful and I would like to continue with.
