During the process of gathering data regarding consumption of antibiotics in the animal sector, it was a challenge to find a credible, consistent unit of measure that could be used for data on a global scale. Since there is no quantitative measure of antibiotic consumption in livestock globally, the most accurate unit of measure, currently available was found to be a statistical model which estimates this data, known as mg/PCU. My supervisor has advised me to further evaluate my sources and units of measure, to ensure that my investigation is based on the most up to date information. The credibility of my study is really important in order to make sure that the scientific knowledge evaluated is correct. To understand the significance of the results of my investigation more clearly, I decided to consider the effect of the consumption of antibiotics in the medical sector on antibiotic resistance as well. This brought in a comparison value to investigate the impacts of different causes.
