About Me

I’m Megna Srinivasan

People I find Inspiring

There are many inspirational people in the world. People that I find particularly inspiring are:

  1. Oprah Winfrey: I find the American media executive, actress, talk show host and television producer particularly inspiring as  despite her tough, and challenging childhood and many devastating events in her life that could have changed her faith in society – she kept persevering and worked hard towards her future. What I like the most about her is how she uses her success to help people and be philanthropic. (Details of her story here)
  2. Tony Robbins: I find the American author and life coach another extremely inspiring character as, similar to Oprah, his challenging background did not stop him from finding ways to improve his life, make himself the best he can be and achieve success. I particularly like he ways in which he chooses to spread his positivity and teaches people motivates them to achieve their goals (More info here)

Here’s a few things to know about me:

Services I'm Involved In - Skills

Which Activities and Services have you been a part of and which of these skills have you developed in your time with them?

  • Music Buddies with Cerebral Palsy – this helped me develop several of these skills. Importantly, Emotional Intelligence and Cognitive Flexibility as it pushed me it of my comfort zone and made me aware of how I behave in front of the CP Kids, it taught me sensitivity and how to be sensitive, observant and open-minded. It helped me distinguish empathy from pity. It also taught me Service Orientation and the pleasure of helping someone else.

  • Urban Gardening Propagation – this helped me develop several of these skills as well. Critical thinking and Complex Problem solving were a few of them as we had to identify issues with some of our plants, had to identify the soil, type of plant, watering that would help them progress. Judgement and decision making was as a result a skill I learnt for the same reasons. Coordinating with others is a skill it taught me as we had to work in a group to plant and water and make sure we were doing the right things for the plants to grow.

What is my temperament?

According to this temperament quiz, I am an ‘Empath’. If you are an Empath, you are described to be:

A compassionate idealist who is concerned with meaning, authenticity, and understanding the human experience. As an Empath, your primary focus is people: their needs, ideas, and potential.

Empaths are the world’s humanitarians, counselors and confidantes. Although their numbers are few, Empaths tend to lead the way when it comes to advocating for the weak, the poor, and the helpless. More than any other type, Empaths feel the pain of other people and seek to understand how to make the world a better place.

As an Empath, your relationships are paramount. You are sensitive and caring with the people who surround you, and you are always ready with a sympathetic ear. Conflict is upsetting to you, but you gain a deep sense of satisfaction from cooperating and connecting with others.

More specifically within the types of Empath – I am

INFP

The Healer

INFPs are imaginative idealists, guided by their own core values and beliefs. To a Healer, possibilities are paramount; the realism of the moment is only of passing concern. They see potential for a better future, and pursue truth and meaning with their own individual flair.

ENFJ

The Teacher

ENFJs are idealist organizers, driven to implement their vision of what is best for humanity. They often act as catalysts for human growth because of their ability to see potential in other people and their charisma in persuading others to their ideas.

What is my creative type?

According to this quiz on creative types, I am ‘the MAKER’. Maker’s are described to be:

  • Creative Strengths: Focus and dedication, ability to achieve mastery
  • Untapped Potential: Taking creative risks, finding joy and play in the process
  • Ideal Collaborator: The Visionary

Driven, focused, and dedicated to the creative process, the MAKER has mastered the art of manifesting ideas and visions in three-dimensional form. Society greatly benefits from the work of MAKER types, who develop the systems, structures, tools, and innovations that the rest of us rely on.

One of the hardest workers of all the types, the MAKER is almost always busy solving problems, making headway on personally meaningful goals, and completing projects. There are few things that bring you more satisfaction than applying your brain power to crafting things and making progress in any form. You tend to excel in design, crafts, architecture, and other fields that blend artistry with business and technology.

You’re driven by tangible results, and you know how to deliver. A quiet type, you enjoy collaboration but generally prefer to work alone so you can focus on your own creative process.

You know how to play the long game, and you’re not afraid to do the unglamorous legwork that goes into building something of value over time. Your gifts of focus and dedication can lead to achieving mastery and coming to be seen by others as an authority in your field.

Your biggest challenge? To connect more deeply with your intuition and emotions in order to bring forth ever more authentic and original work. Productivity is only half the equation of doing great work—the other half is inspiration. Creating the space to dream, imagine, and play can keep your work from becoming rote and mechanical.

Combine forces with the enterprising VISIONARY to take your creativity to new heights. The VISIONARY’s soaring imagination gives you permission to dream bigger and envision the impossible—and to fearlessly risk failure in order to make it a reality
