I had bought her such a pretty dress. Sunshine yellow and spotted with flowers, hoping it would distract from the ridiculous mess she’s made of her hair. But she chose to wear the most outrageous outfit I’ve seen – to an orchestra concert that too – and then makes a point of getting upset when I tell her to change. Did she really think she could go out like that?
She embarrassed me in front of the whole auditorium. What will people think? They’ll talk. It will spread. It’s shameful, really, raising a girl like that. Something went wrong after Moody.
