Immersion day program 10 Dec 2018

I volunteered to be a facilitator in the first G9 Admissions on 10 December 2018.

There were about 8 Grade 8 students during the immersion day, planning to join in UWCSEA in Grade 9  and three of us facilitators (UWC students) welcomed them and firstly we had a welcome lunch with them, they asked many questions about the school, such as the education system in Grade9-10 IGCSE.

After school during the day, we had a “debate”. We debated on two topics, one on euthanasia and one on the utility of theoretical branches of research. (Is it right to spend money on theoretical or inapplicable fields of math, science, and other pursuits?). The debate is organized to see their thinking, and we are looking at their response to see if they will be a good future UWC student.

The immersion day program was very fun, I enjoyed being with those “future UWC students” and chatting and debating with them.

These first 4 photos are the information letter the school Admission Officer Ms. Obordo sent us, and the last photo is Ms. Obordo’s “thank you” letter after the immersion day program
