Top Girls Reflection Marlene Monologue

This monolouge is at the end of act 2 right after Ms Kidd just came to talk to Marlene about Howard and her premotion

Marlene Gets a drink and sits down

Ahhhh that feels good to sit down at the end of a long day. Ms Kidd just came to complain about the situation with Howard, he is not feeling well, that shit just needs to toughen up

Laughs

He thinks the world should bow down to him just cus he is a man with a family depending on him, well times are changing, maybe in the past, some employers would have thought that was but its changing now. I know for sure that this will continue to change, maybe guys like Howard, and even the younger men coming through, need to understand the value of knowledge and experience. It’s not enough to be smooth dressing and well-spoken

Laughs again

Although that is all most people see, the surface, the exterior of a person. These people that think they can judge a person just from one meeting, or even just one look, they will see them and put them into a box. Just based on their sex or the way they dress. Fucking shallow, all of them. I mean, there not all bad some people are seeing what is right and what needs to be done. They give respect to people that have devoted their lives to their work. And they see through those young lads and their smooth charm, Fucking idiots if you ask me. But Howard is not that bad, he just wanted the best for his family but the position was given to someone more qualified.

What is the effect on the reader of the way that the scene ends? Why do you think Churchill has ended the scene in this way?

to better understand the situation and to give you a stronger link with the characters and their situations

The waitress has an intrestign role as a background character, but by having it set in a resturant there is an underlying theme to their conversation

Creativity – Circus/Blue dragon Performance for the community

This week I did the performance for Blue Dragon at east for the community. It was a hectic week because we were doing a lot of extra pcarctice for the show. We had practices wednesday afternoon, thursday lunch and afternoon then friday until the show, there was a lot of work that went into this and I think the final performance worked well

Personality test reflection

The test shows me as right in the middle between extraverted and introverted so I see this as beneficial because I am able to understand the perspectives of both.

My results also show that I am more of a feeler than a thinker, whereas I believe that I am someone that generally thinks through decisions and can do things if I see a future benefit even If I don’t enjoy it at the moment

I think one place where the test really has me wrong is that it had guessed that I am a perfectionist but I am completely opposite to that in every way.

Creativity – Circus Performance

The UWC day performance on the 20th of September 2019  was  creative collaboration between several  departments  in  the  school  – gymnastics, Bersama  and  the  organisers  of  UWC  day  (as  it  involved  all  students  in  the school).  I found  it  quite easy  to  work  together  becasue  we  all  had  the  goal  of making  the  best  performance  possible.  We  faced  the  challenge of  co-ordinating  everyone  together  given  the  short  amount  of  time  avalible

Representation of Women in advertising

To what extent does the representation of women in advertising reflect or challenge the identity of women

These two advertisements were made to empowering women the first one was made at the time of WW2 and it was made in an attempt to recruit women for the war effort, the second was made by Nike to sell clothes. The two ads both show strong women in powerful positions, the older one is more focused on the face and arms while the newer one includes more of the body. These two ads are both have ulterior motives, one to recruit women for the war and the other to sell sporting goods. Both these ads are artsitic, nice looking photos of women in powerful positions and they both have bold text to bring focus to the main idea
