Project Week: Initial Reflection – CAS LO3

LO3 INITIATIVE (Planning and initiated activities)

For project week this year, my group and I decided to go to Nepal. We have planned to go to Pokhara and Kathmandu to go river rafting and to work with children at SMD boarding school. During the first stages of project week planning, one thing I had learnt is to how to take initiative. Project Week is a very large thing to organise and to go to Nepal we knew that this would require alot of planning. At the beginning, we had many tasks to do such as get our service and acitivty approved. We also had to ask a staff member at school to be our supervisor for the trip. In the process, we had to send alot of emails to parents, teachers and other staff members to make this trip possible. We booked flights ourselves and found accomidation in both places. This meant that we had to put in a lot of time and effort to organise everything. One of the challenges we faced was poor communication between group members and disagreements would break out as a result. We tried to over-come these disagreements by making sure we were talking with all group members before discisions were made and informing our parents of choices we made so we could also secure their approval. We were also able to stay organised by using many documents to keep track of important information such as passport numbers and health care details. Better comunication between group members and staying organised are extremely important in the sucess of how our project week will run in the future.
