Project Week: Final Reflection – CAS LO7

LO 7 ETHICS (Considering the ethical implications of actions)

After reflecting back on project week, I am able to see the value in what I learnt  during the week in Nepal with my group. I gained alot of insightful experience by visiting SMD school and it was amazing to meet the children at SMD. At SMD, I interacted with the children in nursery for 2 days. Most of the kids at the school were really welcoming to myself and other members of my group. During the trip to the school, my group and I knew we needed to take photos to record our experiences. This is one time I had to think of the ethical implications of my actions. When I knew I had to take photos of myself and the children at the school, it made me quite uncomfortable as I was working with these kids and did not think it would be very appropiate of my just to start taking photos espcially because these kids were very young. so i didn’t really want to document my experiences there as I didn’t want to put these kids on camera especially because they would not understand the purpose of it. In the end I decided to take a limited number of photos, ask the teacher for permission and ensure I didn’t post these photos on any social media as I believed that would be inappropiate. One thing I learnt from this experience is that there are alot of ethics to consider when working with children and ensure you are doing the right thing by the children. This experience has taught me to be more considerate of others and think of how others would feel about your actions to ensure you are benefiting the majority and not just yourself.
