We can look at the 6 different ways to improve our learning: Interleaving, Dual Coding, Spaced Practice, Concrete Examples, Elaboration and Retrieval Practice. These tools can improve our efficiency and recall of learning. Interleaving is how we can space and change the order of what we learn so the content that is learnt is not linear and straightforward. This provides a challenge in learning which boosts us to achieve a better understanding. This also applies to spaced practice as leaving exponential time between practices will cause you to learn long term and not just memorise short term.

Retrieval practice is recalling information and seeing what amount you were able to retrieve. This focuses on the things you already know and what you need to improve on. An example of this is how Quizlet will bring up information you are unfamiliar with first and focus on that. Elaboration is very similar in that you expand on information you are very familiar with.

In the future, I hope to use these techniques to increase my organisation and efficiency when learning. This will have a positive effect on my learning.
