Recently in global perspectives, we have been looking into gender identity and our personal views on the topic. In my opinion, I have never been against people being a different type of gender or if they are confused with who they are. Since I have grown up in a very international environment, it has always been easy for me to accept people in any way. However, if you were to ask me the question of who should be working and who should be cleaning the house when I was 5 or 6 years old, then I would probably do the stereotypical choice. Mostly because most of my favourite tv shows or books growing up had those stereotypical perspectives. Gender is not something that is too important to me, who I am and who I want to be is more important personally. Same goes for my view on anyone else, I look for who they are not what gender they are. Growing up, I do think my parents have influenced me to understand that there are different genders and they don’t always have to be a boy or a girl who likes a boy or a girl, it is more complicated than that. I guess for me, I haven’t really ever felt out of place and confused. I like the way I am and I’m very happy about who I have become.
