The Story of My Learning Starts Here…

Category: EE Reflection

Final Reflection

Reflecting on my entire EE journey, I feel a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. This experience has provided me with the opportunity to read and research extensively so that I could complete the task. My supervisor had supported me along the way.

Throughout the process, I encountered many unexpected challenges. It was not easy to source for relevant articles on each of the category that I wanted to explore. It took me time to gather information and construct my ideas. Then, it was challenging to inject an insightful analysis that contains my personal voice. Grammar was the other area that I was very concerned with, so I reviewed my work constantly and carefully. Nevertheless, I was determined to overcome them. I relooked and reorganised my scope and decided to use a more critical approach. My perseverance and critical thinking helped me through.

Writing EE has taught me to manage the unexpected and remain positive. I learnt to filter through loads of information to analyze and investigate. My research skills have greatly developed which will enhance my university learning in the near future. Having completed my EE has given me more confidence in the English Language.

Interim Reflection

I have now finished my research on Facebook and started to gather information for Twitter. During my research process, I found ‘Ebsco’ not very useful, so I proceeded to search wisely for information on Google.

My understanding of the topic has developed from reading many academic journals, e.g ‘A brief history of the Facebook’. Also, I decided to structure my essay by giving each section subheadings. However, I faced the challenge of critically filtering all the information I gathered and analyzing them in-depth. It was hard to develop my ideas.

Then, I asked my supervisor on areas for improvement. He suggested that I use more research to support my interpretations and link ideas back to the research question.

Yet, I continued to encounter challenges in finding and obtaining relevant information for some parts of my essay. For instance, Facebook has a lot of resources but Twitter has very little useful ones.

EE DAY Reflection

MY English B EE DAY

What I’ve learnt:

I learnt how to do MLA in-text citation and bibliography. For example, when we use ideas or sentences(paraphrase it) from a journal, we need to put the author’s first name and the page number. i.e. (Taylor 72)

I also learnt that when we use the exact sentence from any source, we need to put quotation marks and cite it.

Citation is very important!!! No Plagiarism!!!

What I’m Proud of:

I have made some progress on my EE during the day. I learnt how to cite in the correct format so that I find it very easy to do citation now. I found some useful information during my research process. Also, I have decided which part of my outline to write first (1000 words).

What I’ll be doing next:

I will make a list of all the things that I am going to talk about in my first section. I am going to bookmark all the resources that I am going to use. I will also set myself a timeline and write a bit everyday.

EE Initial Reflection-English B EE

I chose English B as my EE based on the topic regarding the influence of social media on the written English Language. This is related to our daily life as social media has become increasingly popular and ubiquitous. Written communication has taken new forms, structure and meanings. Therefore, I came up with my research question: How has Facebook, Twitter and Instagram influenced the evolution of written English Language in the 21st Century in the use of syntax punctuation, abbreviation and acronyms?

When I started preparing my outline, I found completing 4000 words to be an unachievable task. It was difficult to string my ideas into words. After my first discussion with my supervisor, my thoughts became clearer, for instance, adding in the origin of the hashtag and explaining how it has developed. Subsequently, I gained a better sense of direction to proceed with my research.
