CAS

CAS Reflection #2

What has been the biggest challenge within CAS so far? What might you do to improve this?

The biggest challenge I found with CAS is how to balance the CAS with all other academics. Not like IGCSE, IB now has sometimes 2 unit tests per week and it is really exhausting if I can’t organise my time well. As a result, what I might consider is to ask my activity or service teacher for an absence. However this is definitely not a clever decision as CAS is as important as academics. Still, I can see myself working toward to not feel stressed and managing my time better.

I’m not super self-organised, so I definitely wasted my time when I’m doing work. So the first thing I’ll do is to manage my time better. I’m starting to make time table so I won’t be doing to much or to little each day. Secondly, I need to know, when I’m preparing for a test, whether I’m in the correct mood or do I need extra help from my tutor. Once my academics problems are settled, I can work on my difficulties within CAS.

One of the biggest challenge so far is my service as we visited MINDS and I’m scared of working with clients with intellectual disabilities. It’s mainly because I’d never worked with any group of people like them, and I’m not really an outgoing person, which makes the communication difficult. However, I’m sure it will get better when we are doing yoga, which is indeed a relaxing, enjoyable thing to do in the afternoon. What I can do now is to research and know more about them so I’m more confident when communicating.
