CAS Reflection #5

Which skills are you planning to develop through PW? How might you achieve it?

Our Project week is service and action based. We planned to have

  • Action for 2 days: Trekking 6 hrs from Chiang Dao; Trek down for 4.5 hrs,  and rafting for 10 km
  • Service for 4 days: Organise English class and teach the students at Children’s shelter foundation, Play games with the children, Help with farming, DIY with the children; Play games with the children, Do painting.

The activities we have chosen is quite challenging for us physically which allows us to step out of our comfort zone and connect with the nature as a part of that. The isolation from urban life will definitely let us connect with the nature which is beneficial for our mental wellbeing as well. We are going to trek for one and a half day and do rafting for half a day. None of us has tried this before properly. Using this opportunity, we can contribute some time to try something new.

All of our group members enjoy spending time with small kids. However, in most Chinese family there is only one child, so I’ve never talked with a kid before. I hope after this trip I can know more about kids today and what they are enjoying. I used to volunteer at a small book shop and read books for children, but the activities we will have with the kids in Chiang Mai are more difficult as in we need to plan everything ahead ourselves. I will probably learn to be more responsible and how to take care of others.
