Today, students from almost all the regions of the world came together to participate in MUN at UWCSEA East. There were full of excitement, nervousness, and enthusiasm at the plaza while young delegates were gathering together to share their interest and concern in politics and global issues.
During the next three-day conference, those young minds with different country standpoint are going to discuss about their resolution to current real-world issues as well as reaching an acceptable consensus on global issues. It is also an opportunity for the participants to meet new people from different backgrounds of countries, cultures, and religions by taking part in positive and healthy discussions.

The UWCSEA press corps have done the interviews with delegates from different schools and committees during the pre-opening ceremony.
“I hope to go find a way to supervise the mining in the Arctic while being respectful to the indigenous communities and to prevent further destruction of the Arctic through mining, as the Arctic is already under attack by climate change.” Briana Tonich, the delegate of Iceland in the Legal Committee, working on the issue of mining in the Arctic has aimed to achieve by the end of this conference. She also mentioned in the interview that she hopes to find a compromise that everyone will find agreeable.
The delegate of Peru, Renee Jaiswal, who is participating in the issue of the Chinese human rights abuses emphasized most about the expectations from the conferences. “I am very looking forward to the MUN conference that can bring me a lot of learning experiences and skills like collaboration and public speaking, which will become really helpful to my future learning process.”

Most of the delegates have high expectations and support for the MUN conferences at UWCSEA. They were assembled together by their common mission and goal to make the world a better place. The opening ceremony started at one sharp and all the delegates were can’t wait to begin this wonderful journey in MUN. At last, a sincere wish to the successful conferences in the next two days and having fun!
