– HSC Preliminary Extension 1 Mathematics (NSW State Curriculum) - I find mathematics to be a unique and challenging course that requires a lot of hard work and flexible thinking patterns. I’m nervous about starting this course as I heard it was going to be more challenging than what I had previously studied and that understanding certain topics may be difficult due to my previous learning styles.
- I would say I fall in between working things out for myself as I understand concepts when I am taught them and then I enjoy working on problems myself or collaboratively to encourage critical thinking and if I find difficulties that I cannot solve, I like it when people guide me in the right direction and let me solve remaining on my own.
- When I am stuck, I revise questions of similar concepts that may aid as a clue or I re-read through the theory behind a question (e.g. formulas). When I am still unable to solve the question, I either move on and come back to it later or ask for help.

- I’m not a very fast learner especially when it comes to understanding formulas and absorbing the explanation.
