Great job on your discussion on smartphones. You did well on maintaining nuance and balancing both sides of the argument throughout the discussion. One step for future discussions you could take would be to try and dig beneath the surface to see why such an argument has 2 sides, how both can exist at the same time, and what one can do to make sure smartphones are being used well and productively instead of being pointless.

I really liked the way your conversation went. I can tell that you tried thinking out the box, and looking at the quotes you chose and the overall question in different perspectives. I really liked when you talked about using your phone to record moments in your life like going to a concert or meeting someone famous, and you said that it can be bad to be constantly on your phone, but a lot of people record the moment to have a memory and be able to look back on it. I also liked how you added that there should be an even balance, so you don’t spend the whole time recording. Your first really long quote was very nice because it is very true. Social media isn’t just bad so you can’t live your life, a lot of people find themselves through tumblr and are able to express themselves so it isn’t fully bad. Overall I think you did a really good job looking at this through different perspectives.
