I conducted a survey as a complimentary engagement so I could better get a feel for the public’s views on the government and COVID-19. I currently have around 25 responses, which is not exhaustive but a useful tool nonetheless. Many participants commented on Singapore’s relative success compared to other states but noted some of the drawbacks of the migrant worker situation – highlighting some of Parag’s discussion about the political environment and democratic culture in Singapore. Many also were aware of wider consequences with misinformation and the power of the media, with some interesting insight into public views on the Singaporean methods of communication (ie WhatsApp messages, official PM announcements). Equally, the survey was useful in providing some basic facts about where participants get their information & which sources they trust.
