U19 Tennis A Team

I first joined the school tennis team back when I was in grade 6.  I had been learning tennis for a while and thought I should step out of my comfort zone and try out for the team.  I really enjoyed the experience and have been joining the school tennis team every year since.  In high school, joining the Tennis A team means you are expected to come for training three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  It is slightly harder to find time for training due to the larger workload, however, I think that it has helped me learn better time management skills.  (Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.)

Although tennis isn’t often viewed as a team sport, I believe that being apart of the team still helped me improve my teamwork and collaboration skills.  Especially since I play doubles, being able to communicate and work together with your partner is crucial.  There are often times where my partner and I miss a shot due to problems with our communication with each other.

One of my goals for this season is to work on having stronger and more consistent serves.  My current serve, although somewhat consistent, doesn’t generate enough power to win the point.  This is why I decided to work on this as having a good serve can really make a difference during matches, and it’s not worth it to give points away by double faults.  (Learning outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth)
