Blue Dragon Circus Show

In November 2019, I was asked, with my band to provide music for a Circus Show which was there to help the Blue Dragon NGO in Vietnam.

LO 7 Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

The circus show was created to raise money and awareness to support the group. We had to make sure that our songs were appropriate and well practiced, and we respected the cultures of everyone attending and the group we supported. This came into practice when we decided to play Cotton Eyed Joe, without realising the true meaning of the song. As soon as someone brought it up in the practice, we changed the song choice in order to consider the ethics of our actions and the meaning and connotation of the songs.

LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

We were asked to do the show on very short notice, and we had to prepare a 30 minute long set list. It was very challenging, and during the process we found it to be very fun, and we also developed our improvising skills.
