Our dance is inspired by the urban legend of “the mermaid of the arch”, the oceans queen, which is an important Colombian legend, because the country is covered by two oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans, and many families live from fishing. The legend tells about the existence of a mermaid in the Pacific coast waters, who comes out at night to watch the fishermen. Some sailors and fishermen say the mermaid of the arch sometimes sings sacred songs, love poetry and her sweet voice drives sailors crazy, who plunge into the depths of the sea drowsy by the voice of the mermaid, without realizing that they will drown. In addition, it’s said the sea nymph has powerful stones, which are the allusion to some of the precious stones in Colombia.
