Hijab has been a symbol of Muslim women in both Home Fire and the photography work of Yumna Al-Arashi, representing the religion itself, the identity, but also reflecting some stereotypical views of Muslim women. My roommate Hala is a Muslim from Jordan, and I sometimes see her wearing hijab in the room for praying.
