What a brilliant group of G10 FIBs we have this year! Look at all these fantastic applications!
First, from Sean Toms, this excellent letter:
Hi Mr Teves,
My cross country coach, Ian Deeth, gave me your email address and suggested I contact you about the possibility of doing my week of work experience (10-14 June 2019) with the AIS Activities / PE departments. I am interested in a future career as an Activities/ PE/Outdoor education teacher and I think I would learn a lot from shadowing teachers for the week and helping the departments in whatever way I can.
This is not a summer job or an internship it is just one week to learn as much as I can about what it is like to be a PE/Activities teacher and to see if it is something I would be interested in for a future career.
I think that I could be of some benefit to AIS because I am very enthusiastic about all sports, as shown on my attached resume.
Thank you,
Sean
While I could not post the details of his resume, suffice it to say that it was well impressive and resulted in an instant and positive response of the Australian International School here in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Megna Shrinvasan had the right idea in incorporating her resume into her application letter:
Dear Terra Minds Team,
Hope you are all doing well! I am Megna Srinivasan, a Grade 10 student at United World College, Singapore. I am writing this email to you to enquire about a one-week internship opportunity with your organisation to gain experience in educational fields. This is a part of an in-school ‘World of Learning’ project where students are encouraged to gain work experience in the real world. I have always been passionate about Education and Science.
Over the years, I have acquired experience working with children by volunteering at the NGO ‘Building Blocks’ in India over my summer vacations and have assisted in teaching basic English, Science and Mathematics to Pre-School Children. This is an image from my time teaching there
Along with gaining an IGCSE-Level Understanding in Science, I have gained experience in science by:
Attending a Neuroscience summer course in The University of Berkeley, California
Interning at Sita Bhateja Hospital in Bangalore, India
Lab Work in studying Regenerative Medicine with iCrest, India
Registered First Aider (proof of certification link here)
Additionally, I am the Youth Ambassador of Plan B, an Environmental Awareness Group in Bangalore and am invested in environmental science.
If you would allow me I would love to have a one-week opportunity with your team gaining experience and learning as much as I can. If given this opportunity, I promise to be co-operative, punctual, flexible, hard-working and a motivated team player assisting you with any requirements and bringing some new ideas to the table.
If you have any further questions regarding the ‘World of Learning’ programme please contact the co-ordinator Ms.Wiseman at vwi@gapps.uwcsea.edu.sg
Looking forward to hear from you!
Kind Regards and Happy Holidays,
Megna Srinivasan (United World College East, Singapore)
Excellent work! Looking forward to more application acceptance emails in the coming weeks.
Happy 2019!
