Letter of Acceptance Clause

Dear FIB World of Learning parents,

The FIB World of Learning week is approaching and I would like to take this opportunity to update you on how plans and preparations are moving ahead.

I have spent time over the last few months working with the FIB students supporting them as they connect with employers, endeavouring to arrange their placements. We have seen some terrific initiative and many of the students have managed to organise their week entirely by themselves; an impressive achievement.

Some career areas have proved more difficult to connect with and in these cases we have worked with students and employers to help our students find a placement.  We are now at the stage where most of the FIB students have a placement and so are in our final stages of planning.

All of the students have been given a World of Learning Agreement Form, which is to be signed by themselves, the employer and also by you as their parent or guardian.

The students know that they can not go out on their placement until this signed form is completed and handed in to me and so please can I ask you to encourage your son or daughter to finalise this aspect of the process this week.

Again, in preparation for the week, I would ask you to also re look at the UWCSEA Letter of Acceptance clauses that pertain to extra mural activities.  If this leads to any questions, please let me know.

I would also like to let you know that in the week prior to their time out on their placements myself and Niki Dinsdale (University Counsellor) will be with the FIB students every day during their mentor time to ensure that they are well prepared for their time off campus and that any final queries are addressed, leaving our FIB students fully prepared and ready to make the most of their week in the workplace.

As our FIB students move towards their IB studies and their thoughts are undoubtedly turning to life beyond school we really hope that this is an opportunity that proves fruitful.  It is a time to be motivated, engaged, curious and excited about the possibilities ahead and we very much hope the World of Learning programme has given them some time to think about the potential the future holds.

Many thanks,

Vanessa Wiseman
