This year, as I have my exam coming up in June, I have had to work harder on my piano skills. Something I have really enjoyed about piano this year is the concert my external teacher hosted at the Esplanade, which I helped her to organise and took part in. I worked behind the scenes, backstage, helping my piano teacher to organise the younger children and ensure the show ran smoothly, and I really enjoyed this experience. I was also quite happy with my performance and performed both a duet and a solo piece, ending the concert with my performance. My family and friends also came to watch, making the experience all the more better.
In preparation for my exam, I feel I still need to practice more on my aural and sight-reading skills. These are two skills that are quite important to ABRSM exam taking, and I feel also to develop as a musician. The ability to sight-read any piece can be quite beneficial, allowing a much deeper understanding of all the components of a piece, and increasing my skills by a lot as I must take all the different aspects into account at once. I hope to improve in this skill and hopefully score well in my final exam.
